Hey, what is the verdict on PhD's becoming lab techs? The PhD would certainly come in handy if you want to be a lab director. All the training involved with PhD/Post-doc is not insignificant. Take the HCLD exam and open a reference lab.
My problem is that CLIA mandates that all testing personnel in Montana have a license. I was employed as a lab manager but I cannot do any of the testing!! Can anyone provide suggestions as to how to quickly get enough qualifications to take the AAB exam? My job is on the line, maybe my career. I think I need a clinical internship. I am not sure the aab will let me take it. I completed a PhD in Pharmacology, Post-Doc in Neuroscience. need clinical Lab experience, 8 yrs bench research as a mol biologist does not count i guess!
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
