I'm currently a Clinical Laboratory Science at a four year school in Central IL. I am currently in my fourth year and am currently doing my clinical rotation at a hospital. Everything has been going quite smoothly, but I can’t really see myself staying in this field. I feel that there is a lack of respect for these individuals and the work seems quite monotonous. After I finish my degree, I may decide to pursue furthering my education by going to grad school. Is it possible to get into a biology master’s program with this degree? I would want to use this degree as a means to get a job at a community college as a biology instructor. I really enjoyed all of the science classes I took and have an inquisitive thirst for this sort of knowledge. I also truly believe that I would enjoy leading other students and by trying to change their lives by teaching them and letting them know about all of the different fields of science that are out there for them to make a career out of. I currently possess a 3.51 Cumulative GPA and have gotten mostly A’s in my basic science classes. I may decide to work as a Clinical Laboratory Research Associate, as opposed to a technologist (I’d get paid less but the research experience may make it easier for me to get a job as an RA at a university). Do you believe that I have a good shot of getting in with my current credentials? Do you believe that I would have to take more basic science classes? The basic science classes I have taken so far are: General Genetics I, Inorganic chemistry 1 and 2, Organic Chemistry 1, Anatomy and Physiology 1, Microbiology, and Molecular and Cell Biology. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
