The first stage of SFSU interview consists of the following:
1. The orientation. Gerry talks about the program in a Powerpoint presentation. At the end you are given the short essay portion. The essay is not your personal statement, but I remember deriving my answer from it. Keeping the word count on a time crunch is tough!
2. The "practical". The actual task changes from year to year. This basically tests whether you can follow directions as they give you a sheet with steps. This resembles the real lab in the sense that you have to follow protocol.
3. The personal interview. There's usually four people on it that are from the SFSU faculty . You'll be given a question from each of the four. They have asked questions from your resume and experience. When I did it the ladies are really nice and approachable and I was able to turn it into more of a conversation.
Best of luck to you. I'm finishing up my internship in 2 months.
Hi there! Does the practical portion of the faculty interview involve solving math problems/dilutions/conversions or is it very general (non-science)? I am asking this question because I don't have any clinical lab experience and I don't know if I should prepare by reading those review books or not. Thank you!
