Hi
I am graduating this spring with a B.A in Biology from Queens College. I want to go into the MT/CLS field but i do not know how to start. I am a foreigner. I came to the U.S 5 years ago so i do not know much about the education system. My advisors are not really helpful. As i understood from previous posts,since i have a B.A in biology, i only need 1 year training in lab sciences after which i will be able to take the ASCP exam and get my license. I heard that i can find 1 year programs in hospitals however i have been searching for days but what i found was that most of these programs are affiliated with certain colleges.I do not want to spend another 4 years to be a certified MT. If anyone knows of any hospital that offers the 1 year training program in New york or Long Island please let me know.
Also I am considering going to community college to get an associate degree but someone told me that if i get an A.S from a community college it would look bad on my resume. Is that true?
