I suggest you make time to meet with the program coordinator well before the semester you are to start. Her office hours are Mon and Wed between 3 and 5. Call and see when she is available because she is pretty much always busy, especially in January when informal interviews (after turning in the clinical internship applications at end of October) are conducted.
See which courses you still need to take. Some courses will require you to put yourself on a waiting list the semester before that class takes place because they are impacted (Microbiology, Medical Bacteriology, Parasitology). Best to have yourself placed on the list, especially for Medical Bacteriology at least 1 year in advance, since there's only 48 positions available. To be eligible to place yourself on the waiting list, make sure you bring your transcripts showing you meet the prerequisites for that course. To put yourself on that waiting list, you need to be at the Biology Department early in the morning (likely waiting in line)of the 5th week of the Fall semester for MedBac (class is in Spring), and 5th week of the Spring semester for Parasitology and Microbiology (class in Fall).
Microbiology and Parasitology are also offered during the Spring Intersession (Miro) and Summer Session 1 (Parasitology). Again, make sure you are on the waiting list. You will receive an email from Gabby asking if you want to take Micro in the Fall or in Spring Intersession; Parasit in the Fall or Summer Session. You cannot take both Micro and Parasit in the Spring Intersession and Summer Session 1.
If you are high enough on the waiting list, you will eventually receive another email with the permission code to register for that class come time for registration. However, Gabby will specify a day when you can come to her to get the code (faster than waiting for the email).
