Hello all MTs or current MT students. I just received the phone call this week that I was accepted to Vanderbilt University MLS program, which starts the first week of June. It is a 13 month program. From June-Dec it is all classroom/wet lab in class room, and then from Jan-end of June is clinical rotation in the laboratory. I am very nervous about the school. I have a BS in biology, but I graduated in 2011. When I decided to go to MT school, I had to take a few more pre-requisites, so I took Organic 1 (A), Organic 2 (A), Microbiology (A), and Immunology (B) in summer & fall 2013. All of my other classes, such as A & P, genetics, cell bio, and my math classes were before 2011... A & P I took when I was 19... 6 years ago! I am worried that I may be a little rusty and might be behind the others in my class. The reason I was accepted was because I have been a phlebotomist in a lab at a hospital for over a year, so I have been exposed to the field very well. I already help with minor things such as setting up the micro QC plates.
Anyway, I don't want for Vanderbilt to regret extending me a spot. Obviously they have some sort of faith in me since I was chosen to be one of ten, but I don't want to be the dud. I have ordered all of my books, and I have about three months to brush up on a few things. Any advice in this matter would be helpful. Also, just giving me an idea of what to expect would be helpful.
