I also applied for the CLS programs for this year and found this thread to be very helpful during the process. Unfortunately, I did not receive any interviews (although I haven't received some rejections either, but from what I hear it seems like they should be on their way). I graduated with a 2.9 GPA from a UC with a degree in Biological Sciences. I worked in two different college labs for a short period of time and did some volunteer work at a clinical lab as well. I also currently work as a quality control chemist with about 2 years experience doing so. In the prerequisite classes I got mostly A's with two B's.
I applied to UCSD, UCI, CSULA, and Santa Barbara sites. I already received a rejection letter from UCSD and SB has deferred applications to next year. I have yet to hear from UCI or CSULA but things are looking grim. I feel as though my GPA is making me much less competitive then others. I'm unsure as to what else I can do to make myself a more competitive candidate besides continuing to gain more work experience.

Hi Julo,
Honestly, I feel ya. I graduated with a 3.0 and increased my gpa to a 3.1 after I took hematology. You can ask the program directors why you were rejected and ask what you can do to improve yourself. I know having clinical lab experience will go a long way. My backup plan is to take some recommended courses to improve my gpa in case I need to you and I'm sure that will go a long way as well bc it'll show that you're committed to the program. Good luck!
