Ok.I would like to share my experience with the California Department of Health. First, I have an Associate of Applied Science MLT (ASCP) certified. I finished my Bachelor Degree of Science in Allied Health and I also took the MT (AAB) exam. I have 2 years experience working as a generalist without the microbiology lab.I have been desperately trying to obtain California license for the past year and a half and it is not working. I took the physics course they required, I have all the requirements except the microbiology work experience. They sent me deficiency notice for acceptable work experience. I don't know what to do anymore. I also have applied for a Florida MT license and I was just approved for a generalist license. How come Florida is issuing me MT generalist license, but California cannot? Does anyone here have the same issue like mine? I really would like to move to California, but it looks like I have to either go work in Micro for a year and reapply again. It sounds like a really long path and I don't know why they are making it so hard for people with all the job shortage. The hospital I work at currently won't give me a raise ,because my Bachelors degree is not in Chemistry or Biology or Med Technology. According to my supervisor, CLIA has changed some rules for the personnel so apperantly my degree is useless. It is very frustrating. I would really appreciate any feedback you guys. Also, once I have the Florida license, can I transfer that to California so I can get a California one?
Thank you so much.
