Can anyone who understand both the UK and US system please please help!
I have a BSc in Biomedical Science from King's College London and I'm currently doing an MSc in Immunology at Imperial College London but stupidly I didn't do an approved BSc course to be registered and work as a biomedical scientist in the UK (from what I understand is the UK equivalent of what I'd want to do in the US). Now I don't know if I should do some top up modules to be eligible to eventually work as a biomedical scientist although it feels like I'm taking a step back or if i should do the NHS scientist training program and work as a clinical scientist (i wanted to specialise in clinical immunology) I don't know which one would allow me to try and work as an MLT/MLS in the US.
Also, if I follow the path of becoming a clinical scientist I'll have to do an accredited program giving me a second MSc but this time in clinical science during which I'll be training in a hospital, is this similar to what students in the US do to become a MLT? Or will this allow me to work as an MLS, which from what I've read seems more advanced/specialised but I might be misunderstanding, it's all so confusing :(
I've read about the process of being ASCP registered and that I'll need a few years experience in the UK before being able to do it in the US but I don't know if working as a biomedical scientist or clinical scientist will be more beneficial in the long run for when I want to work abroad, does anyone have any advice please???? Anything at all would help, thank you!!
