we just moved here in Dallas,TX from LA and I just noticed that I send my resume mostly of the hospitals, reference lab, agency around this area and no one is responding my application, by the way, I am a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and I was working in a non-profit hospital in LA, but I am so disappointed about the jobs here in Dallas, seems like they just only looking for an MLT rather than MT. Here is my question, is Dallas a great place to look for a job opportunity as a Medical Technologist or not?
I was thinking of starting a thread on just this topic (Why are there no Med Tech jobs in Dallas?) because my wife and I moved here to Plano, TX from LA two months ago due to my company transferring me, and we figured my wife would have no problem finding a job here but we were wrong. She is accredited by the ASCP & AAB, worked in LA at Quest for 2 years & at Valley Presbyterian Hosp for 1 year and for almost 10 years before that in Manila. With all the hospitals here in Dallas & new ones coming on line, we figured she would get a job offer very quickly. But after 2-3 months of looking she has gotten only 1 in person interview, 1 phone interview and no other interest. The recruiters she has talked to have told her there are no jobs in Dallas. That seems hard for me to believe considering the strong demand there was in LA and I am reading all the time about how fast Dallas is growing and how low unemployment rate is. She is so frustrated we are starting to think that maybe I should quit my job and we should go back to LA. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
