WOW...MLT’s releasing results is considered ridiculous?? I have worked with and trained MT’s and MLT’s. Some good and some bad. Its not the degree that makes you a good tech. Its your ability to understand and interpret the results. To recognize normal from abnormal and erroneous to clinical change. Can you bring back an analyzer that has gone down during the morning run and still maintain control of your department? Can you recognize slight IV contamination in a post op patient? Can you work up multiple antibodies for patients in desperate need of blood while keeping your cool?? Those two extra yrs don’t teach that. I agree you should be compensated for your higher degree and respect you for accomplishing that. Our pathologists don’t know us by our degrees. They know us by who they can trust to do quality work. Its all about patient care.
