Hi Hopeless, I was like so many people on this forum and not getting a job in this field has caused a lot of stress for me. I was looking into MA social work degree (for myself last year). There are a good amount of schools that require a minimum of 2.7+ GPA, but with all of those programs you need at least three references and you may be required to write a letter as to what you will do differently to keep a good GPA. I have reached out to some schools that say (on the website) you need a 3.0+ GPA, I was told that if I got accepted to the program I would be on academic probation and after the first semester If my grades were good, I would be taken off academic probation. So please don’t be discouraged, just do your research. And since you have a BA in psych don’t take another BA degree just get a Masters. I have realized that BA degrees don’t get you far (unless you know someone who can get you a job or if you currently work in that field), You really need a Masters degree to get a decent paying job. This is why I will be furthering my education. **I know this is an old forum. But has anyone thought about being a Alcohol and Drug counselor? This is another alternative since the minimum requirements are a BA in psychology ( you can apply for an intern cert, get a paying position and once all the hours are done it leads to CADC-1). Or Work in a hospital on the psychiatric unit as a Behavioral Tech. Some other jobs include ABA, Psycho-social rehabilitation work (PSR), Basic skills training (BST), caseworkers, Praxis Cert. leads to being a teacher, Group Home as house manager or program coordinator, juvenile detention centers, mediator for courts, state hospitals and state jobs in general etc... This is a short list of jobs, where you can gain experience and make some money (with BA in psychology). I hope I have helped someone.
