Hi, everyone , i'm currently working as a phlebotomist here in San Diego Ca.(only 2mos.ago) but i graduated BSMT in the Philippines,1986. i have a desire to take the CLS licensure exam here in Ca. i don't know where to apply , is it in ca.lab field services or in ASCP.i believe i need to evaluate my credential, when i went to cdhp.org.website it says there in NARES or ACEI, but when i'm reading these posts some says in ASCP.I really appreciate if somebody can help me. Thank you & God bless... Happy Easter .
You should apply for equivalency first and then they will evaluate your OTR, diploma and internship, (work experience optional as long as you did 12 months of internship from the Philippines). Your school should send the papers sealed directly to the agency which will evaluate your credentials, I did mine thru IERF. (Im from the Philippines too). Request 2 copies or maybe 3 copies of the result and 1 should be sent directly to ASCPi (CLS license) and the second copy will go to CDPH (California state licensing), the optional 3rd copy can go to your house if you wish. After doing this, you can apply to ASCPi for CLS exam, simultaneously also apply for California license CDPH. To save you time waiting. That's how I did it. Only reviewed couple of days for the exam, 100 questions, passed first try. You should email the CDPH also to keep updating your status in case your application gets lost or something. I think CDPH also requires your school to give them copies of your credentials.
