I share you all frustrations. California LFS is the worst I encounter so far. I've been trying to get the limited license for 3 months already. So far I got an email from LFS saying my application is deficient. They just asking me for one year of CLIA experrience outside of California. But there are not accepting the one year experience that I submitted to them. Very frustrating!!! Don't know what to do.
I'm MB-ASCP certified, have worked as a molecular scientist for almost 20 years in biotech with 2 years of CLIA experience outside of California. LFS still said my application is deficient. LFS email keeps asking for my 1 year of CLIA experience outside of California! The email said my lab asst and lab tech CLIA experience is not acceptable. I don't why is my CLIA experience outside of california is not acceptable! My email goes unanswered.
Hello! I am sorry to hear that you are having some frustration with getting your application approved with LFS. I would like to offer some assistance.
LFS recently updated their website and a lot of the requirements are streamlined. With that said, I assume that you applied for the CGMBS (molecular limited license), correct? I am going to post the link so that you can view as well. The one year of work experience/training requirement states that your experience has to be clinical and NOT biotech/pharmaceutical, forensic, academic, veterinary, research, or student laboratory. They don't accept lab assistant positions either. LFS needs clinical lab experience where you are a technologist that analyzes and reports out patient lab results per physician order in your specialty. If that is indeed the kind of experience that you had outside of CA, I suggest having your work experience be resent stating those exact phrases. Hope this helps!
